Indigenous Education & Boarding Australia logo

Indigenous Education & Boarding Australia (IEBA) was launched as the trading name for Boarding Australia in March 2019 with a mission to Close the Education Gap through Boarding.

To achieve this mission IEBA initiated the National Indigenous Education and Boarding Symposiums, the National Indigenous Boarding Awards, and held local workshops in all major cities and in regional areas throughout Australia.

IEBA was focused on policies, practices, systems and innovation to inspire, influence and educate the work of governments, schools, and boarding providers to support our vision that all Indigenous students attain educational outcomes to be successful in their future choices.

Since our inception in 1995 we have provided advocacy and national leadership for all student boarding services. IEBA is now in the process of winding up and handing the baton to ABSA.

We thank all our supporters, past board members, government agencies, and all boarding providers and schools in the Independent, Catholic, Christian, Lutheran and government education sectors.

The education gap remains a significant challenge that impacts on the future opportunities for every generation of Indigenous students. Whilst IEBA will not be there in the future, the task still remains for all schools to make a commitment to close the education gap. We appeal to you all to make a commitment to achieve this goal so that all Indigenous students attain educational outcomes to be successful in their future choices.
