Indigenous students in Year 10 with an interest in maths and science are encouraged to apply for CSIRO’s ASSETS program. This is a great opportunity, which has been supported by Boarding Australia and its members for a number of years.
ASSETS is a nine-day summer school for Year 10 students who are interested in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics and who identify with their Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage.
Summer school programs are held each year in Townsville, Newcastle and Adelaide. Students are then supported through years 11 and 12 with an ongoing leadership and support program. Each summer school has cultural, academic and personal development strands.
