Boarding Australia is pleased to announce that Andrew McLeod and Samantha Franklin have joined our Board of Directors.
ANDREW MCLEOD
Andrew McLeod hails from the Northern Territory, with proud Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage. Andrew is a former Australian rules footballer for the Adelaide Football Club. He is the games record holder for Adelaide, having played 340 games. Andrew won two premierships for the Adelaide Football Club in 1997 and 1998 and was also awarded the Norm Smith Medal for best on ground in both Grand Finals. He was inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame and is an AFL Indigenous Team of the Century member.
Post football career, Andrew is still involved with the Adelaide Football Club and along with wife Rachael has developed the club’s Indigenous programs run as the McLeod Centre of Excellence. With a passion for education, the McLeods have created a strategy that engages students from year 8 through to employment. The programs provide a number of different elements with a holistic approach to learning that focuses on the education of students through VET training. The McLeod Centre of Excellence works closely with Wiltja Residential and Government agencies to provide support to remote students and families that fosters their educational endeavours.
SAMANTHA FRANKLIN
Samantha Franklin is a Narungga woman (SA) who is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA).
As a director at KWelsh & Co, Samantha has developed expertise in working with the education sector and a number of not-for-profit organisations, as well as government clients.
She has a strong interest in Indigenous education and has a detailed knowledge of ABSTUDY and Centrelink provisions that relate to boarding.
